You can buy BNG Units through our market place. You can search via Local Planning Authority (LPA) and or National Character Area (NCA) or BNG Category. Once you have found a potential source of BNG contact use the enquiry button by clicking more details.
We always get new BNG units offered for sale so submit your requests to our services team and we will do our best to match your requirements to our BNG clients.
You can also create an optional buyer account to track your requests. Once your Buyers account is created, submit your request via the drop down menu under Buyers of BNG or enquire through the advert.

How Can Habexchange Help my buy BNG units?
You can submit requests for BNG to match your requirements and we will behind the scenes look to see if we can source the units you need. Once we have matched your requirements to our clients we will put you in touch with the seller. At that point seller and buyer can agree price, assign solicitors and progress the BNG unit transaction. There Seller of BNG will then pay us a referral fee.
Will you match my requirements to sellers?
Yes you can submit your requirements to us and if we have any BNG clients selling the units you require we will connect both parties. If we dont have those units available we can initiate a search for those from our partners.
I need rare BNG units that I cant find anywhere?
We can help, as we have many clients who are still going through the registration process, some with sizable estates we can sometime put our requests to our partners to specifically develop a type of habitat unit. So if you are struggling please get in touch.
I am a large organisation and will need significant number of units can you support me?
We can help, we have a number of partners who have 1000s of units. If you are buying significant quantities we can help match your requirements to our larger estates.
I have a small requirement for BNG can you supply this?
Yes we can help source smaller number of units, however with the new BNG legislation that was announced at the end of 2025 it is worth checking that you dont fall into the Small-Scale New Area Exemption: An exemption for developments on sites up to 0.2 hectares (0.49 acres) was announced in December 2025, expected to be implemented in mid-2026
How the Spatial Risk Multiplier Works?
The metric applies a multiplier to off-site units based on their proximity to your development site. The further away the off-site gain is, the fewer units it is effectively “worth,” meaning you have to buy more to meet your 10% net gain requirement.
The multiplier categories and their impact on unit requirements are as follows:
Outside (0.5): If the gain site is located outside both your LPA/NCA and any neighbouring ones, the multiplier is 0.5. In this case, you would need to buy double the number of units to meet your requirement.6
Within (1.0): If the compensation is within the same LPA or NCA as your development site, there is no penalty, and one unit purchased counts as one unit.
Neighbouring (0.75): If the off-site gain is in a neighbouring LPA or NCA, the multiplier is 0.75. This means you effectively need to buy more units (specifically, approximately 1.33 units for every one required).

Is there a fee for buyer to register or buy BNG units?
No as a buyer you can register for free and there is zero fees should you find BNG credits you need. We only charge the Sellers of BNG a broker fee.
